KATHMANDU: MAW Vriddhi, the official distributor of Deepal and Changan electric vehicles in Nepal, unveiled Changan’s latest electric hatchback, the Lumin, at the NADA Auto Show 2025 in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.
The launch was led by Managing Director Vivek Sikaria, alongside directors Tulika Agarwal, Harshita Agarwal and Rupali Sarawgi, and CEO Rupesh Sharma Bhatta, underlining MAW Vriddhi’s commitment to next-generation EVs for Nepal’s market.
Designed for urban roads, the compact Lumin features a 35 kW motor paired with a 28.08 kWh battery, delivering a 301 km range (NEDC). Its DC fast-charging system replenishes the battery from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes.
Inside, a 10.25-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay, smart keyless entry and start, mobile-app remote control and an electronic knob shifter offer a seamless smart-driving experience. Despite its hatchback dimensions, luggage capacity ranges from 104 litres to 589 litres, complemented by fully wrapped seats and a light-luxury cabin design.
Safety features include dual airbags, a high-strength steel body, NBooster braking system, ESP stability control and Changan’s Battery Fortress system, all aimed at maximising driver and passenger protection.
“The Changan Lumin is designed as a fun urban companion, perfectly matching modern lifestyles,” said CEO Rupesh Sharma Bhatta. “With its blend of smart features and practicality, it sets a new benchmark for affordable electric mobility in Nepal.”
The Lumin carries an introductory price of Rs 2.299 million, positioning it as one of the most competitively priced EV hatchbacks in Nepal.
