KATHMANDU: Embark College has announced two significant programmes to bridge the gap between vocational education and employment in Nepal: the Practical Skills Training (Apprenticeship) Programme and the Innovation (Startup) Capacity Building Programme. These initiatives are designed to develop future business leaders, ensure employment and promote entrepreneurship across the country.
Asish Thakur, Executive Director and CEO of Embark College, said, “This programme puts an end to the uncertainty that graduates face when entering professional life after their academic career. By directly connecting vocational education with industry, we have established a new standard for career-ready education in Nepal.”
The apprenticeship programme guarantees employment for qualified graduates by partnering with leading and innovative industries and enterprises in Nepal. Participating companies will offer positions based on a structured Training Needs Assessment (TNA). The programme incorporates a pre-planned timetable, professional counselling, regular evaluations and long-term partnership agreements, supplying skilled manpower to industry and providing assured career guidance to students.
The Innovation (Startup) Capacity Building Programme targets innovative businesses that have been legally registered and operating for less than 10 years, with an annual turnover below Rs 150 million. It aligns with the Government of Nepal’s National Startup Policy 2080 and the Industrial Enterprises Act 2076. Priority will be given to startups demonstrating innovation, scalability and market impact.
“These two programmes are expected to contribute to a more prosperous entrepreneurial ecosystem in line with government policy,” Thakur added.
Applicants for the apprenticeship programme must complete a skills assessment, submit certified academic and skills documents from Embark College and undergo a professional evaluation through a structured interview. Applicants for the startup programme must provide a legal registration certificate, financial statements, a business plan demonstrating innovation and undergo due diligence.
