KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has urged banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to operate essential banking and digital payment services with limited staff.
The central bank has instructed all licensed commercial banks, development banks, finance companies and payment-related entities to ensure business continuity.
In a notice published today, the NRB said the directive reflects the prohibitory order issued by the Nepali Army on 10 September.
“The BFIs must provide essential banking and digital payment services with limited staff. For other systems, arrangements must be made to operate through remote access based on risk,” the NRB said.
BFIs have also been asked to inform the public of branches, ATMs and services that have been operationalised via their websites and social media.
