NHRC calls for solution based on rule of law

KATHMANDU: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged everyone to find a way forward based on the rule of law.

In a press statement issued today, NHRC spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokharel said it would be appropriate to seek a solution grounded in human rights, democratic values and the rule of law.

“In the current crisis, the NHRC is in contact with President Ramchandra Paudel and has expressed the view that a resolution based on human rights, democratic values and the rule of law would be most fitting,” the statement read.

The NHRC said it firmly believes the President will take the necessary steps to protect human rights, democracy, peace and the rule of law. It added that it remains in continuous contact with other stakeholders regarding the ongoing situation.
