KATHMANDU: Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal (CIBFIN) has welcomed the formation of interim government, saying it brings a peaceful end to the difficult and terrifying situation sparked by the Gen Z movement for good governance.
The confederation lamented the irreparable damage to public, government and private property across the country, noting that attacks driven by human and self-interest compounded the nation’s recovery from the devastating earthquake and the Covid19 pandemic just as the economy was gaining momentum.
CIBFIN expressed its heartfelt condolences to the security personnel who lost their lives while performing their duties and its deep respect for the young activists who sacrificed their lives in the tragic events. It also offered its sympathies to the families mourning the loss of their children and wished all those injured a speedy recovery.
Despite the appalling human and material losses, CIBFIN has reaffirmed its commitment to work in unity with the new government to represent the voices and aspirations of young people and to help build a new Nepal with good governance on the foundation laid by this movement.
CIBFIN said it is confident that the interim government will create appropriate policies and an environment that guarantee peace, security and the right to invest, practise a profession, do business and find employment within the country, thereby filling the private sector with hope, energy and enthusiasm.
The confederation also urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant against elements with malicious intent that threaten banks and financial institutions and to cooperate with strong and responsible organisations — the backbone of the economy — to ensure the smooth operation of banking services.
