KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepal Gold Silver Gem and Jewellery Associations (FNGSGJA) has urged entrepreneurs to adopt special precautions, warning that gold and silver looted during the Gen-Z protests may be offered for sale.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, FNGSGJA General Secretary Nir Bahadur BK asked businesses to operate with due care as thousands of inmates have escaped from prisons and robberies are on the rise.
The FNGSGJA also instructed entrepreneurs to require verified identity cards and other necessary documents when trading, citing a high risk of stolen gold and silver jewellery entering the market.
Entrepreneurs have been advised to install CCTV, alarm systems and other security equipment to protect valuable jewellery, prevent unauthorised persons from entering their premises and report any suspicious activity to security personnel.
The FNGSGJA further urged entrepreneurs to remain in close coordination with the local government and police to conduct business safely in view of the upcoming festivals.
