KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Kul Man Ghising has said that vehicles burnt during the Gen-Z demonstration at Singha Durbar should be moved elsewhere. He issued directives to this effect today, saying that the Singha Durbar premises looked unsightly because of the burnt vehicles, the minister’s secretariat said.
“We should not leave the office premises looking shabby. Let us work on the interior, but not let the exterior become unsightly. Let us make it nice as soon as possible. Damaged vehicles scattered around the Singha Durbar premises make it look unattractive. We should remove and manage them promptly to convey a positive message,” Minister Ghising said.
He added that he had directed the painting of buildings which suffered only minor fire damage to convey that we have risen from destruction, the prompt removal of vehicles damaged by fire from ministry and office premises, and the immediate assessment of the damage.
He clarified that reconstruction would begin by collecting support from the government and from Nepalis at home and abroad through the 'Let us build our structures ourselves' campaign.
The Ministry of Urban Development said it has formed a task force to assess the damage to structures under its jurisdiction and has already begun work.
