mBank Technologies, NMC-COOP partner to launch integrated digital financial platform in Nepal

KATHMANDU: mBank Technologies and NMC Multipurpose Co‑operative (NMC‑COOP) have formed a strategic partnership to deliver integrated digital banking, payments and lending services on a single platform.

The agreement was signed on Friday, June 12, and services came into operation on Thursday, July 23. NMC‑COOP serves more than 150,000 members through 57 service centres and will offer them an expanded range of digital financial services via mBank’s application.

Under the partnership, members can use a single mobile application for mobile banking, QR payments, fund transfers, utility payments, digital payments and KYM updates. The initiative also introduces digital lending, giving members phased access to loans against fixed deposits and periodic accounts, loan repayments, loan statements and new loan applications. The digital workflow is intended to reduce the need for branch visits by enabling members to submit documents and track applications online.

Laxmi Prasad Upreti, CEO of NMC Multipurpose Co‑operative and recently elected Chairman of the National Cooperative Bank, said technology‑driven service expansion is essential for the sustainable development of the co‑operative sector and expressed confidence the arrangement will provide members with secure, convenient and modern financial services.
