
KATHMANDU: The government’s budget expenditure stands at 9.17% as of mid-September in current fiscal year 2025/26, the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO) reported.
During the first two months of the fiscal year, 9.67% of the budget has been spent on current expenditure, 1.56% on capital expenditure and 15.89% on financial management.
This year, a total budget of Rs 1,964.11 billion was approved, and expenditure had reached over Rs 180.18 billion by September 16.
Of Rs 1,180.98 billion allocated to recurrent expenditure, more than Rs 114.18 billion has been spent so far. Similarly, of Rs 407.88 billion under capital expenditure, over Rs 6.35 billion has been disbursed.
The Rs 375.24 billion earmarked for financial management has seen outlays of more than Rs 59.62 billion by mid-September.
During this period, the government has collected 10.43% of its annual revenue target. Of the Rs 1,533.44 billion aimed for total revenue, over Rs 159.98 billion has been raised to date.
The annual tax revenue target of Rs 1,325.58 billion has yielded 11.35%, or Rs 150.40 billion, while the non-tax revenue goal of Rs 154.41 billion has produced Rs 7.13 billion, or 4.62%.
Meanwhile, of the Rs 53.44 billion sought in foreign grants in current fiscal year, more than Rs 1.27 billion, or 2.38%, has been secured so far.
