KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is set to operate direct flights from Kathmandu to Guangzhou, China, from next Thursday.
NAC Executive Chairman Ubaraj Adhikari said all technical preparations for the Kathmandu–Guangzhou–Kathmandu service have been completed. Three flights will operate each week, with the inaugural departure on September 25 and the second on September 28. Thereafter, direct services will run every Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday.
The NAC has set the one-way fare from Kathmandu to Guangzhou at Rs 30,000, with a return ticket priced at Rs 50,000.
Himalaya Airlines also operates regular services on this route, while Chinese carrier China Southern provides routine Guangzhou–Kathmandu flights.
With Guangzhou added as its latest destination, Nepal’s flag carrier now serves 11 destinations across nine countries. NAC currently deploys two narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft on routes to Doha (Qatar), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Hong Kong (China), Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore (India), Bangkok (Thailand), Dammam (Saudi Arabia) and Narita (Japan).
