KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Danielle Meuwly, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kul Man Ghising, at his office in Singha Durbar today.
During the meeting, Ambassador Meuwly congratulated Minister Ghising and extended best wishes for a successful term.
They discussed the implementation status of projects supported by the Swiss government, potential areas for short- and long-term support, Swiss investment, bilateral cooperation and other topics.
Thanking the Swiss government for its assistance to Nepal’s development, Minister Ghising said the main priorities of the government formed after the Gen-Z protests are elections, the reconstruction of public and governmental structures damaged during the protests, and the establishment of good governance with renewed hope for young people.
He called for support to provide training to create employment through the establishment of small industries, to promote electric vehicles, to encourage the use of electricity for domestic purposes, to adopt Swiss tunnel technology in road transport and to develop green hydrogen energy.
Small irrigation programmes, bridge construction, technical assistance to the Siddhababa Tunnel and employment-oriented skill-development training programmes are currently being implemented with Swiss support.
Ambassador Meuwly said the Swiss government remains ready to assist Nepal in the energy and infrastructure development sectors.
