KATHMANDU: Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Maeda Toru, paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal today.
During the meeting at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar, the two discussed recent political developments in Nepal, historic Nepal–Japan relations and Japan’s support for Nepal’s socio-economic development.
On the occasion, Finance Minister Khanal underlined that the interim government, formed under special circumstances, has, as its main task, the holding of elections on the scheduled date. He added that other activities, including the reconstruction of structures damaged during the Gen-Z protests, as well as socio-economic development, will continue until the election.
They also discussed the under-construction Nagdhunga Tunnel Route project, the Koteshwor Chowk Improvement Project — for which an agreement is to be signed in the near future — and the Programme for Emergency Rehabilitation of the Sindhuli Road affected by flooding.
Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyaya and Joint Secretary of the Foreign Aid Co-ordination Division, Dhani Ram Sharma, were also present.
