MUSTANG: More than 40,000 domestic and international tourists visited Mustang in the first 10 days of the month of Kartik.
Mustang District Police Office (DPO) said 37,146 domestic tourists and 3,732 foreign nationals arrived in the district via the Beni–Jomsom road section from October 18 to 27.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tshiring Kippa Lama at the DPO said a total of 11,808 vehicles entered the district during the period via the Beni–Jomsom route.
Some tourists visiting the district to pay homage at Muktinath temple on October 27 were affected after snowfall that night.
Tourists in the area were affected following rainfall and snowfall that began on Monday night, police said.
“Heavy snow on the trails along the Kagbeni–Muktinath temple road section troubled tourists and devotees,” Rabin Subedi, an official of the Muktinath Mandir Development Committee, said.
Subedi said the Muktinath Snankunda (pond) and 108 taps had frozen following the sharp drop in temperature.
