BANKE: Lumbini Lions, a franchise team in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), is organising a full‑day Talent Hunt today at Kohalpur Cricket Stadium. The event aims to identify three young cricketers for the second edition of the NPL.
The selection camp, organised by Banke District Cricket Association in Nepalgunj, started at 8:00 am today and will be held until 5:00 pm, and aims to uncover local talent for inclusion in the franchise’s squads.
The franchise said one of the three selected players will be promoted to the main squad as the team’s designated 'Iconic Player', while the other two will join the development side. Those chosen will be eligible to participate in the NPL, which is scheduled to start on November 17.
Lumbini Lions have already retained six key players from last season ahead of the upcoming competition. The Talent Hunt is attended by the team’s Chief Executive Officer, Bhawana Ghimire, officials from the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and other distinguished guests.
Organisers expect the programme to broaden opportunities for emerging cricketers in Nepal and to contribute to raising the standard and competitiveness of Nepali cricket domestically and internationally.
