KAMALAMAI, SINDHULI: Vehicle movement is prohibited on the BP Highway and Mid‑Hill Highway tonight and tomorrow night due to the risk of floods and landslides from incessant rain.
Sindhuli District Administration Office (DAO) today issued a notice urging all concerned parties not to operate vehicles during the night for two days owing to the increased risk of floods and landslides.
The notice, issued by Sindhuli’s assistant chief district officer (CDO) Anuj Bhandari, stated, "Vehicle movement is prohibited on the BP Highway from Sindhuli towards Kathmandu from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am on October 30 and 31."
Bhandari said vehicles will be stopped at Khurkot Bazar during this time and urged everyone to refrain from travelling except for essential purposes. He also informed that if heavy rain occurred during the day, vehicles may be stopped at any location in coordination with security agencies.
"The objective of stopping vehicle operation at night is to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent human and material damage from accidental disasters. Vehicle movement has been prohibited at night since the risk has increased significantly on some sections of the BP and Mid‑Hill Highways," said the chief of Sindhuli District Police Office (DPO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Lal Dhwaj Subedi.
SP Subedi advised passengers not to travel unnecessarily due to the high risk of floods and landslides from heavy rain and to travel only after the weather improves.
