KATHMANDU: Aloi has partnered with the Sustainable Electric Transport for Nepal project (SET4NPL) to launch a women‑focused electric vehicle driver training and employment initiative in Kathmandu Valley.

The programme aims to increase women’s participation in Nepal’s green public transport sector by providing driving training, support to obtain licences, technical maintenance instruction, business and finance training, and leadership development. Priority will be given to financially vulnerable women who commit to completing the course and pursuing employment in the electric mobility sector.

“Through this collaboration, we are not only promoting clean mobility but also creating pathways for women to become financially independent in a traditionally male‑dominated sector,” said Birat Singh Thakuri, Senior Product Manager at Aloi.

“SET4NPL aims to increase women’s participation in the public transport sector. Building on their success with three‑wheeler electric tempos, the project supports training and workshops for operating four‑wheeler electric mini‑ and microbuses, making the profession more inclusive,” said Pratik Karki, Senior Programme Officer at Global Green Growth Institute Nepal.

The project focuses on four pillars: EMB driving and licensing, technical maintenance, business management and finance, and leadership development. Aloi, as an implementing partner, will deliver digital financing solutions, capacity‑building programmes and stakeholder coordination.

SET4NPL is financed by the Mitigation Action Facility on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, the European Union and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation. Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGI) are jointly implementing the project in Nepal in close cooperation with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPOT) and other government and sector partners.

Aloi, founded in 2019, is a fintech company providing digital financial solutions for micro‑entrepreneurs in the green mobility and agriculture sectors, using blockchain‑powered digital tokens to verify the use of funds for sustainable purposes.
