MUSTANG: Mustang district produced potatoes worth Rs 628 million in current fiscal year 2025/26, according to Agriculture Knowledge Centre Office in Mustang.
The Office said five local levels in the district harvested 9,665 metric tonnes of potatoes from 478 hectares in the current fiscal year.
In the previous fiscal year, farmers produced 8,496 metric tonnes of potatoes from 460 hectares, the Office stated.
Chief of the Office, Rajesh Gurung, said that both production and productivity of potatoes increased this year compared with last year, resulting in Rs 118.4 million rise in value.
Gurung said that potato productivity remained at 20.22 metric tonnes per hectare this year, and that potato farming was carried out on an additional 18 hectares compared with the previous fiscal year.
Farmers received a good price for their produce this year in Mustang. According to Gurung, farmers received Rs 5 more per kilogram for potatoes this year than last year. The average price this year was Rs 65 per kilogram.
