KATHMANDU: Embark UnMath organised a special corporate screening of the Nepali film Paran on Friday to demonstrate how mathematical thinking applies in filmmaking and everyday life.

Nearly 200 people, including teachers and parents, attended the event at Chhaya Centre in Thamel for a collective viewing that aimed to bridge cinema and mathematical concepts.

The screening formed part of Embark UnMath’s mission to show that mathematics is not confined to textbook formulas but is deeply connected to life and the creative industries. Organisers said the film helped clarify how mathematical ideas operate in areas such as script structure, cinematography, time management and audience psychology.

The film, which has recently garnered widespread attention in Nepal and internationally, resonated with audiences through its storytelling, emotional depth and social commentary, organisers added.

Following the screening, Embark UnMath co‑founder Divesh Bathija said, “Mathematics touches every aspect of life. Even in filmmaking, elements such as structural thinking, organisation, probability, pacing, proportion, storytelling, and audience behaviour analysis are deeply connected with mathematics. Paran demonstrates the thoughtful use of these elements, which makes the film even more impactful.” He added that Embark UnMath is continuously working to help people understand mathematics not as something to fear, but as a useful life skill.
