KATHMANDU: The world’s largest brick has been prepared as the main attraction of the National House Construction Fest, organisers said, with preparations underway to include it in the Guinness Book of World Records. The exhibition will be held at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, from December 27 to 30, and more than 40,000 spectators are expected to attend.
Organisers said the brick aims to exceed the size of a previous record set on July 4, 2007, in Texas, the US, when a brick measured 2.94 metres in length and 0.99 metres in width and thickness.
They added that the brick was built entirely from Nepali raw materials and by Nepali artisans using Nepali technology and thinking, demonstrating the country’s traditional brick‑making art, construction technology and worker efficiency. The project is described as a symbol of self‑reliance and the originality of Nepali skills.
The initiative is intended to showcase Nepal’s construction art and innovation to an international audience and to bolster the country’s identity abroad. Organisers said the bid for inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records would send a message to foreign audiences, investors and tourists that Nepal can achieve world‑class milestones and attract interest in the Nepali construction industry.

Beyond the record attempt, the brick is being presented as a symbol of Nepali hard work, creativity and self‑confidence, and will be open for direct public viewing. Visitors will be able to inspect the structure up close, learn about its size and features, and take photographs.
With the slogan “whatever we do, we do in Nepal,” organisers expect more than Rs 2 billion in economic transactions during the four‑day exhibition. The House Construction Fest, presented as Nepal’s largest event in the construction sector, will feature live demonstrations covering all stages of a construction project and provide expert advice on material selection, design, cost, quality and modern technology. Participating brands are preparing customer‑targeted special offers.
The fest is being organised to help modernise Nepal’s construction sector and address challenges faced by brands in presenting products uniformly, building effective customer relationships and displaying goods in an organised manner.
