KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank and the DAI Udaya project have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to improve financial access for small and micro enterprises in Koshi Province.

The MoU was signed by Global IME Bank CEO Surendra Raj Regmi and the project’s Chief of Party, Arun Rana. Under the agreement, businesses and enterprises selected by the DAI Udaya project will be able to access loans from all branch offices of Global IME Bank in Koshi Province.

The bank said that, following the agreement, loans will be disbursed more smoothly to small and micro businesses operating in the province. The move is expected to help enterprises and entrepreneurs who were previously unable to grow due to a lack of investment, while also increasing employment.

The DAI Udaya project, a bilateral initiative of the Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland with technical support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning of Koshi Province, has been active in all districts of the province. The project is making credit available for sectors such as renewable energy, agro‑processing, IT, tourism and manufacturing, aiming to create a more conducive environment for financial resources and business growth.

Global IME Bank, which has been honoured by national and international institutions, said it will support the initiative through its nationwide network. The bank has received awards including Bank of the Year 2014, Best Internet Bank 2016, Best Bank Nepal 2024 and 2025, and the Euromoney Award for Excellence in 2022, 2024 and 2025.

Global IME Bank is the first private‑sector commercial bank to establish a branch network across all 77 districts of Nepal. It provides services through more than 1,000 service centres, including 352 branch offices, 384 ATMs, 150 branchless banking units, 68 extension and revenue collection counters, and three representative offices abroad.

The bank also provides remittance services from countries including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, India and Jordan, which it says contributes to Nepal’s economic prosperity.
