KATHMANDU: Facial House, Nepal’s leading unisex beauty salon, marked its 18th year on Thursday.
Started 17 years ago with the slogan 'A complete hair and beauty solution', Facial House has moved towards stability after a long struggle, the company said in a press release.
Senior beautician Sushma Mahara founded and nurtured Facial House and remains its operator and managing director. Mahara, who has 28 years’ experience in the sector, said she feels young as the business she established enters its 18th year. The company said thousands have gained employment, technical education and experience through its operations, and dozens of women have become self‑reliant through self‑employment.
Facial House’s central office is at Kathmandu Mall, Sundhara, and it operates branches within Kathmandu valley at KL Tower (Chabahil) and Lagankhel, Lalitpur. Outside the valley, it has expanded to cities including Chitwan, Pokhara, Surkhet, Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj and Itahari.
The salon runs a Beauty Academy that provides professional training and opportunities for leadership and responsibility. Mahara said thousands of women have built careers in the beauty sector after receiving technical education there, contributing to the promotion of female entrepreneurship in Nepal. She added that Facial House delivers services using modern equipment, expert staff and progressive management while prioritising customers’ health and satisfaction alongside their beauty needs.

To mark the anniversary, Facial House organised a grand ceremony at Bougainvilla Events in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, where former House Speaker Indira Rana Magar was the chief guest.

The programme opened with the national anthem, featured a welcome speech by Patron Ujjwal Jung Shah and a vote of thanks by Managing Director Mahara. An anniversary cake was cut, cultural performances took place, and the event was hosted by Rozin Shakya and broadcast live on Life OK Television.
Awards were presented to 31 outstanding employees across various categories, one best branch and three outstanding students. Manju Ghimire received the 'Best Honour of Loyalty, Dedication and Continuity for a Decade' award and Rs 50,000 in cash. Other awardees included branch managers, teachers and senior staff from across the company.
The event brought together business and civic leaders, including former FNCCI president Bhawani Rana, Citizens Bank International chairman Prabal Jung Pandey, political analyst Prakash Rayamajhi and representatives from chambers of commerce and industry, trade associations and the media.
Organisers also presented tokens of appreciation to guests and supporters and announced a charitable initiative to raise funds for winter clothing for orphaned children.
The property offers a range of services under one roof, including skin tests, skin care, hair care and make‑up, the statement read.
