JHAPA: Mechi Customs Office has witnessed impressive growth in black cardamom exports during the first six months of current fiscal year 2025/26.
The office said 3.46 million kilograms of black cardamom worth Rs 7.2 billion were exported during the review period.
Ishwar Kumar Humagain, information officer at the office, said black cardamom exports increased by 58% during the period compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year. Exports of black cardamom were recorded at Rs 4.55 billion in the first six months of the previous fiscal year, he said.
Similarly, exports of chhurpi, veneer sheets and lentils increased significantly, while exports of tea and plywood declined during the period.
Humagain said exports of lentils rose by 481% and veneer sheets by 109% in the first six months of the current fiscal year compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year.
