KATHMANDU: Two riders from Goa, India, are about to complete a more than 6,000 km round trip to Nepal on an Ather 450 electric scooter, Ather Energy said in a press release.
The expedition began on January 9 in Goa and follows a route through Gorakhpur, Butwal, Chitwan and Kathmandu. The riders reached Butwal on January 17, Chitwan on January 18 and arrived in Kathmandu on January 19, with meet‑and‑greet sessions held at Ather Experience Centres along the way.

Ather said the journey is being prepared for submission to the Asia Book of Records and aims to secure two recognitions: the longest electric scooter ride by an individual and the first‑ever cross‑country electric scooter ride of its kind.

In addition, the company has described the trip as a practical response to range anxiety and charging concerns that it says remain barriers to wider electric scooter adoption. Relying on the Ather 450 platform and the firm’s charging ecosystem, the riders have navigated diverse terrain, long highways and border crossings.
Ather added that the expedition has fostered interactions between Ather owners in India and Nepal, strengthening a shared community around electric mobility and producing unscripted customer stories that the company says demonstrate real‑world confidence in the product.
The scooter used for the expedition is designed, engineered, and manufactured in India, Ather said, and the cross-country trip is intended to highlight the model’s reliability and performance across different climates and conditions.
Ather described the expedition as “more than records”, saying it tests technology, infrastructure and customer trust.
