KATHMANDU: Gaurav Tayal, managing director of Surya Nepal, has been appointed vice‑president of Nepal‑India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), the chamber said.

The Executive Committee formalised Tayal’s appointment at its meeting on Tuesday, appointing him to succeed Ravi Rayavaram. Tayal, who recently assumed charge as managing director of Surya Nepal, will represent Indian joint ventures as one of NICCI’s two vice‑presidents. Kunal Kayal serves as the vice‑president representing the Nepali business community.

Welcoming the appointment, NICCI President Sunil KC said, "Tayal’s engagement with NICCI will add fresh momentum to our initiatives and help the Chamber expand its reach and impact."

The Executive Committee and the president said they expect Tayal to help the chamber play a more active role in facilitating bilateral trade, economic cooperation and broader engagement between Nepal and India during his tenure.

Tayal is a corporate leader with extensive experience in managing large, diversified businesses. As managing director of Surya Nepal, he oversees the company’s strategic direction, operations and stakeholder engagement, and has been involved in initiatives promoting sustainable growth and cross-border economic cooperation.

Surya Nepal has been associated with NICCI since the chamber’s establishment and is described as one of its most active members. The company is a leading private sector enterprise in Nepal with a strong presence across manufacturing and consumer markets and a record of contributing to industrial development and employment generation.

NICCI is a bilateral business chamber dedicated to strengthening trade, investment, and economic ties between Nepal and India, and serves as a platform for dialogue, advocacy, and collaboration between the public and private sectors of both countries.
