BIRATNAGAR: The second series of the Business at School programme, organised by the Chamber of Industries Morang (CIM), concluded at Satyanarayan Secondary School on Friday.

The initiative aims to strengthen an entrepreneurial mindset among students and to highlight local opportunities for self-employment and careers in industry.

Targeting pupils in grades 9 to 12, the programme combined hands-on training, career guidance and industry exposure. Technical partners delivered short trial sessions on practical skills, including the Internet of Things by Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic; industrial automation by Gyan Automation; CCTV camera installation by Sirshak Enterprises; mobile repair by Indra Mobile Centre; and laptop repair by Kabita Trade Centre.

The event featured an exhibition of products made from recycled plastic, skills and product displays, live demonstrations, business idea presentations and experience sharing by successful local personalities. Students took virtual industry tours using virtual reality and accessed career-counselling results through online platforms during the programme.

CIM vice-president Surendra Golchha said the initiative made classroom learning more life-oriented and helped students identify their interests, abilities and future possibilities. The chamber added that the programme sought to reduce confusion among young people and demonstrate that viable career and entrepreneurial options exist locally.

Manoj Bhattarai, principal of Satyanarayan Secondary School, said he was confident the programme would help pupils recognise pathways to becoming successful entrepreneurs within the country.

CIM announced plans to expand the campaign to other schools to further uncover local opportunities and build a foundation for entrepreneurship among young people. The programme received technical support from the ENSSURE, Quality and NVQS projects.

Srijan Pyakurel, CIM executive committee member and coordinator of the Industry Academia Linkage Committee, noted that a pilot episode held on December 10 at Naragram Secondary School, Budhiganga, featured 11 industries, while the latest edition expanded participation to 16 industries and added enhanced virtual and online career-counselling features.
