KATHMANDU: Global Compact Nepal (GCN) concluded the Sustainability Fair 2026 in Kathmandu on Saturday. The one-day event held in partnership with Hotel Mulberry brought together sustainability-focused organisations, businesses, startups and social enterprises to showcase environmentally and socially responsible products and practices.
More than 20 stalls were set up at the fair that drew over 100 participants. Exhibitors included Nepal Fashion and SmartPaani, among others, each presenting goods and services that emphasised ethical sourcing, eco‑friendly production and social impact.Sustainability Fair 2026, GCN

The fair opened with remarks from GCN leaders and partners. GCN Programme Manager Rashmi KC welcomed guests and emphasised the importance of collaboration in advancing sustainability initiatives. GCN President Samir Thapa highlighted the role of private sector and innovation in achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and urged businesses to adopt long‑term responsible practices. Amir Pradhananga, General Manager of Hotel Mulberry, spoke about the hospitality sector’s growing responsibility to integrate environmentally conscious operations.
An intern, Elisabeth Allen, recited a sustainability‑themed poem during the inauguration, underscoring the event’s message that sustainability was both a cultural and personal commitment as well as a business imperative. The programme also included interactive activities such as Sustainability Bingo, quizzes and a sustainability crossword to engage visitors and promote learning.

Participating businesses contributed sustainable products as giveaway items, providing visitors with tangible examples of responsible consumption. Organisers said the fair helped enterprises strengthen brand visibility and credibility while creating opportunities for networking among like‑minded businesses, development partners and stakeholders.
The presence of Kyoko Yokosuka, UNDP Resident Representative in Nepal, added international recognition to the event and highlighted the importance of partnerships between local enterprises and global development institutions in accelerating sustainable progress. Organisers reported strong participation and positive feedback and said the fair renewed commitment among stakeholders to continue advancing sustainable and ethical business practices in Nepal.
