KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has extended her greetings to all Nepali sisters and brothers on the occasion of the 76th National Democracy Day. She has urged unity for democratic stability.
Posting on social media, the Prime Minister recalled that the first parliamentary election in 2015 BS began on this day after the 2007 BS revolution transformed people from commoners into citizens, and she referred to today as ‘Election Day’.
Referring to today as ‘Election Day’, Prime Minister Karki called for free and fair elections as the foundation for building a prosperous Nepal.
“We failed at the leadership level to make democracy a way of life. We had to stage protests repeatedly. Now we must end that. Let us resolve against corruption, nepotism and discrimination, and address them through institutional reforms,” she said.
Prime Minister Karki has also paid heartfelt tribute to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of democracy and good governance in the country.
