Kathmandu: The government has accepted a US$4 million grant from China to support Nepal’s upcoming House of Representatives elections, following a Cabinet decision taken on Tuesday.
According to Government Spokesperson and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, the Cabinet approved the acceptance of the financial assistance offered by the Chinese government to facilitate electoral preparations.
The meeting also endorsed the proposed investment model for the Budhigandaki Project, in line with provisions outlined in the current fiscal year’s budget and programme.
In a separate decision, Chief Judge of the Kathmandu District Court, Diwakar Bhatta, has been appointed Chairperson of the Consumer Court, Kathmandu. He will continue to oversee the responsibilities of the District Court alongside his new role.
The Cabinet further approved the list of public holidays for the year 2083 BS and decided to form a Gen Z Council, aimed at engaging younger citizens in governance and policy dialogue.
Officials described the decisions as part of a broader administrative and development agenda aligned with the government’s annual policy commitments.
