KATHMANDU: National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged everyone to adopt precautions as heavy rain, snowfall and storms are expected over the next three days.

Issuing a press release on Thursday, NDRRMA said the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) predicts heavy rainfall and snowfall in the hilly and mountainous regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces for the next three days.

High‑speed winds are likely in Dang, Nepalgunj and the Tarai areas of Lumbini Province. The DHM said storms of up to 119 kilometres per hour are expected in Biratnagar, Dhankuta, Dharan and surrounding districts until Saturday and warned that the winds may pose risks and cause damage to structures, including disruption to electricity and communication services.

Under Secretary at NDRRMA Ram Bahadur KC urged local people in the affected areas to avoid unnecessary travel, stay in safer places and refrain from operating vehicles to minimise damage and harm.
