Janakpurdham: Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Friday visited the renowned Janaki Temple, where she performed special prayers and highlighted the site’s cultural and religious significance.
The Prime Minister arrived in Janakpurdham by a Nepali Army helicopter and offered prayers at the temple, one of the country’s major religious landmarks. She was welcomed by head priest Mahant Ramtapeswar Das and his successor Mahant Ramroshan Das, who presented her with garlands and prasad, while priests recited hymns.
Following the ceremony, Prime Minister Karki circumambulated the temple and inspected the premises, gathering information about its management and condition. Speaking briefly to journalists, she stated that her visit was purely for religious purposes.
She described Janakpurdham as a place of significant religious and cultural importance and reiterated the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting such heritage sites across the country. She also noted plans to develop Janakpurdham into an international destination for religious tourism.
The Prime Minister further stated that the interim government remains focused on good governance, development and stability in line with public expectations, and emphasised the importance of cooperation among all stakeholders.
Earlier, she was received at Janakpur Airport by provincial officials, including Home, Communication and Law Minister Fakira Mahato, senior administrators, security officials, and Dhanusha’s Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luintel.
