KATHMANDU: The Indian government is set to implement seven High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu was signed on Wednesday.
India is extending a grant of Rs 473 million to Nepal for the seven HICDPs, officials said.
The projects include school buildings, cold storages and a maternity centre, and will be implemented by local governments across various provinces.
Under the programme, cold stores will be constructed in Madhyabindu Municipality-2, Nawalpur, and Laligurans Municipality-2, Terhathum.
A building with a dormitory and dining hall for Janbal Secondary School in Gharpajong Rural Municipality-2, Mustang, will be constructed, and a new building for Kalika Primary School in Gauriganja Municipality-11, Kailali, is planned.
A maternity centre will be built in Paroha Municipality-4, Rautahat.
Buildings for Kasturi Secondary School in Tripurasundari Municipality-7, Dolpa, and Janakalyan Secondary School in Khajura Rural Municipality-4, Banke, will also be constructed under the project.
