BANEPA, KAVRE: Ten creators have received national honours at a ceremony marking the 42nd anniversary of Janamat Wangmaya Pratishthan Nepal.
The programme was held in Banepa, Kavrepalanchok, and was presided over by Janamat Wangmaya Pratishthan Nepal chairperson Mohan Duwal. The event drew writers, journalists and intellectuals from across the country.
At the ceremony, Dr Bal Ram Adhikari, president of the Society of Translators Nepal, was awarded the Janamat-Mitra Anubad Rastriya Samman in recognition of his contributions to translation and the promotion of Nepali literature. Following the formal proceedings, Dr Adhikari spoke about the changing landscape of translation and the role of technology. He said, “In today’s era, to make translation more effective and of higher quality, it is essential to have a proper integration of the translator's individual creativity, human sensitivity, and artificial intelligence (AI).” He added that while technology has made translation easier, human emotion and creativity remain the true soul of the craft.
Among the nine other creators honoured across various categories were senior politician and writer Mohan Bikram Singh (Kamalraj-Janamat Philosophy Literature Honour), Prof Dr Chudamani Bandhu (Hridayachandra-Janamat Senior Seeker Honour) and Prof Dr Bina Poudyal (Janamat-Sichi Religion/Culture Honour).
