BIRGUNJ, PARSA: Goods worth Rs 694.5 billion were imported through Birgunj customs point in the first nine months of current fiscal year 2025/26.
Imports for the period rose by 13% compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year, when total imports stood at Rs 613.61 billion. Birgunj Customs Office said the increase amounted to Rs 80.44 billion year-on-year.
Information Officer at the customs office, Udaya Singh Bista, said there has been growth in imports via the Birgunj customs point.
Major items imported during the period included petroleum products (Rs 148.16 billion), iron and iron products (Rs 62.26 billion) and soya bean oil (Rs 50.4 billion). Other significant imports were machinery parts and electrical goods.
Bista added that machinery goods worth Rs 49.13 billion and electric machinery goods and appliances worth Rs 34.19 billion were imported up to the month of Chaitra, covering the first nine months of current fiscal year.
According to the customs office, revenue collection at the Birgunj Customs Office stood at Rs 177.66 billion in the period.
