KATHMANDU: A total of 2,722 drivers were penalised for violating traffic rules in Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office (KVTPO) said on Wednesday.
The figure emerged from checks carried out by the office at various locations across the valley as of Wednesday morning.
Forty-six drivers were penalised for driving under the influence of alcohol, 342 for lane crossing and a further 1,571 for other offences, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Naresh Raj Subedi, spokesperson of KVTPO.
“In the past 24 hours, 2,722 drivers were penalised for violating traffic rules in the Kathmandu Valley. Revenue of Rs 2.727 million was collected from the fines,” he added.
