CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA: American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal (AmCham Nepal), in partnership with Staggered Private Equity, hosted a focused diaspora engagement in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday. The event brought together Nepali-origin leaders from banking, private equity, entrepreneurship and real estate to deepen the US-Nepal investment dialogue.

The meeting, held in one of the United States’ major financial centres and home to Bank of America, aimed to explore structured investment pathways into Nepal and to align private sector momentum with the Government of Nepal’s economic vision. AmCham Nepal said the event was part of its broader effort to advance commercial diplomacy by connecting capital, policy and diaspora expertise to Nepal’s development priorities.

Participants expressed strong interest in working with AmCham Nepal as a credible platform to channel investment, shape sectoral priorities and strengthen long-term economic linkages. The discussion focused on creating transparent, investable frameworks that could attract US private capital and mobilise diaspora resources for projects in Nepal.

Amir Thapa, Executive Director of AmCham Nepal, emphasised the chamber’s role in supporting job creation through foreign investment. “AmCham Nepal is committed to supporting the Government of Nepal’s vision of job creation through increased US investment. By building transparent and investable frameworks, we aim to connect American enterprise with Nepal’s emerging opportunities — delivering mutual prosperity for both nations,” he said.

AmCham Nepal noted growing confidence among diaspora professionals to contribute through investment, membership and strategic collaboration, positioning them as active partners in Nepal’s economic transformation. They pointed to recent high-level engagements, including interactions with S Paul Kapur and special envoy Sergio Gore, as reinforcing a conducive environment for strengthening US-Nepal economic cooperation.

There was also discussion of the need for continued policy clarity, investment facilitation and trust-building mechanisms to sustain private sector interest. AmCham Nepal said it will expand similar diaspora engagements across key US cities to understand priorities better and mobilise global expertise towards Nepal’s growth.

The chamber said the Charlotte event was part of its strategy to position itself as a strategic partner to both governments and the private sector, supporting a transition towards deeper trade and investment collaboration and strengthening its membership value proposition.

AmCham Nepal is dedicated to promoting bilateral trade and investment between Nepal and the United States through policy advocacy, business facilitation and strategic partnerships.
