POKHARA: Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara, part of The Centara Collection, has appointed Thaksorn Than Sertsirikai as its new executive chef, the resort announced on Thursday.
Known professionally as Chef Than, he brings 38 years of culinary experience to the Himalayan property. His résumé includes senior roles at Ambassador Hotel Pattaya, Krabi Resort, Centara Krabi, Novotel Rayong, Sheraton and Amari Hua Hin, with additional professional postings in Singapore, Mali and Phuket.
Chef Than is recognised for his expertise in Thai, Chinese and Western cuisines and is a recipient of the Iron Pan Chef award for Thai cuisine. The resort said his international background and long career will shape the dining offerings at its flagship Himalayan retreat.
In his new role, Chef Than plans to combine signature Thai dishes with reworked Nepali classics, using locally sourced ingredients and Himalayan flavours to create menus that reflect both global techniques and regional tastes. Guests at the resort’s four dining venues can expect Thai specialities alongside reinterpretations of Nepali dishes.
"I am truly excited to be here," Chef Than said. "I want to share my passion for Thai cooking with guests in Nepal, and at the same time I am eager to learn from the incredible local ingredients and traditions around us — to create something that is both familiar and entirely new."
Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara is a secluded retreat on the hills of Kaskikot, about 35 minutes from Pokhara, offering views of the Annapurna Range and Mt Machhapuchchhre. The property features 42 rooms, suites and villas, guided village walks, scenic hikes, a spa and dining venues that highlight Nepalese and international cuisine. The resort said Chef Than’s appointment supports its aim to enhance its culinary profile within Centara Hotels & Resorts’ international portfolio.
