A guard of honour from the Nepali Army saluted the President as a banner reading Republic Day 2083 was displayed. Flowers were showered from a Nepali Army helicopter, the national flag was hoisted, and pigeons were released as a gesture of peace.

A march-past was performed by the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal, and Kathmandu Metro Police Force. Tableaux showcasing the country’s traditional arts and culture were presented by various local levels in the Kathmandu Valley.

Addressing the gathering, President Paudel said the republic has secured political rights and created an opportunity to move forward together towards prosperity. “It has connected the people of the country and inspired the resolve to build a common nation. It has given us ownership of our caste, language, religion, community, civilisation, and land. Therefore, this is a great inspiration for us for nation-building,” he said.

Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister and chair of the Republic Day main ceremony committee Balendra Shah, Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal and National Assembly Chairperson Naryan Prasad Dahal were among those who participated in the ceremony.
