Finance Minister Wagle unveils Rs 1,964.11bn budget in joint federal parliament

KATHMANDU: The presentation of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27 began today in a joint sitting of the federal parliament. 

The sitting is attended by the members of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly. The budget for the current fiscal year stands at about Rs 1,964.11 billion.

Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle is presenting the government’s estimates of income and expenditure to the joint meeting, outlining the fiscal plan for the year ahead.

Earlier, a Cabinet meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers endorsed the budget speech before it was presented to parliament.
