KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank (Third Amendment), 2083, was formally presented to the House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday.
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle introduced the amendment during the Lower House sitting. Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal said no protests had been reported against the motion to seek permission to present the proposal, and the House unanimously approved the motion to allow the presentation.
When presenting the measure, Finance Minister Wagle said the amendment was aimed at legal reforms to maintain price and balance of payments stability and to strengthen the overall financial sector, with the goal of supporting the sustainable development of Nepal’s economy.
“Considering changes in national and international financial landscapes, the expansion of the financial system, the use of digital systems, and the developments in the role of the central bank, it is necessary to clarify and update some provisions of the existing Act,” he said.
In a separate development, the HoR sent the 'Film Bill, 2082', which originated in the National Assembly, to the concerned committee for clause-by-clause discussion. The measure, presented by Minister for Information and Communication Dr Bikram Timilsina, was unanimously approved for referral.
The next meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled for 11:00 am today.
