KATHMANDU: Bindra Hada Bhattarai has been appointed a member of the board of directors of Global IME Bank, the bank said on Friday.
The board meeting on Friday filled a vacant seat with Bhattarai as an independent female director. Bank Chairman Chandra Prasad Dhakal welcomed her at a special ceremony the same day. Other directors, the chief executive and senior management attended the event.
Bhattarai is a former secretary and a long-standing government official with more than three and a half decades of experience in public administration, governance and development management. Her career includes service at the Ministry of Irrigation, the Office of the Nepal Trust, National Planning Commission, National Information Commission, Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Her academic qualifications include a master’s degree in Chemistry and Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Law from Tribhuvan University. She also completed advanced studies in Public Policy (Trade and Finance) at the University of North Carolina and in non-profit management at Duke University in the United States.
Bhattarai currently serves as an executive member of South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE) and as an independent director of Professional Holding.
Global IME Bank said it expects her expertise to strengthen the bank’s business strategy, corporate social responsibility initiatives and sustainable development goals.
