FM Khanal arrives in Beijing for four-day visit to China

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal today arrived in Beijing on a four‑day visit to China.  

He was invited by Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Khanal departed Kathmandu last night and landed in Beijing this afternoon, the Nepali Embassy in Beijing said.

At Beijing Capital International Airport, he was received by Roshan Khanal, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Nepali Embassy, and officials from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the minister will hold bilateral talks with Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi to discuss matters of mutual interest aimed at further strengthening Nepal–China relations and advancing deeper cooperation. He is also scheduled to meet other high‑level dignitaries of the People’s Republic of China.

The Nepali Embassy in Beijing will host a welcome reception in his honour this evening, and Khanal is due to meet the Nepali community in the city.

During the visit, he will participate in an investment conference organised by the embassy to promote foreign investment in Nepal, and he is scheduled to hold interactions with the Chinese business community.

Minister Khanal is due to return to Nepal on June 17.
