KATHMANDU: Praveen Lamichhane has been unanimously elected president of Nepal Recondition Auto Byabasayi Sangh (NeRABS). The announcement followed the association’s third national convention and ninth–tenth annual general meeting, which concluded in Kathmandu on Saturday.
The convention elected a new executive committee for the upcoming term. Pradip Rana Magar was chosen as vice president, Kumari Bogati as general secretary, Dukpa Ghale as secretary and Manish Raj Pandey as treasurer. Elected members include Devendra Kumar Shrestha, Sahardev Dhungana, Top Bahadur Poudel (Arjun), Keshav Niraula, Nawaraj Bidari, Bikas Shrestha, Tirtha Bahadur Budhathoki and Suraj Prasad Nepal.
The event, chaired by association president Ramesh Koirala, featured Jayaram Thapa, Minister of Labour, Employment and Transport of Bagmati Province, as the chief guest. Speakers at the programme, including FNCCI central committee member Prayas Karki and the association’s legal adviser Rudra Dhungel, addressed the development of the auto business sector, professional discipline and strengthening consumer confidence.

On the occasion of the convention, journalist Kamala Bhandari received the Nepal Recondition Auto Entrepreneurs Association Journalism Award–2083 for her contributions to promoting the automobile and recondition auto business sector and raising public awareness through journalism. The association presented her with a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
The convention concluded with a commitment to make the reconditioned auto business more organised, transparent and consumer-friendly.
