KATHMANDU: Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment, Ramajee Yadav, has said the government has accorded much priority to creating job opportunities within the country.
Addressing a programme on foreign employment opportunities organised at the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment on Thursday, Minister Yadav said that supporting young entrepreneurs and businesspeople would help create jobs and reduce the trend of going abroad for work. The Ministry extends its utmost support to this end, he added.
The event was organised to present the Best Entrepreneurs National Award. The award was presented to six people who developed entrepreneurship after returning from overseas employment. Lok Bahadur Rai from Morang was presented with the award this year. On the occasion, Rai shared his journey from working in Qatar to establishing a beekeeping business. He said there is potential to secure a decent living in Nepal through the same hard work as abroad. Manika Rai, Devlal Yadav, Yam Kumar Gole, Shiv Kumar Chhetri, Dinesh Khatri and Karmaraj Malla were also presented with awards.
Ministry secretary Dr Dipak Kafle said the Ministry is ready to protect workers' rights and interests, in addition to creating a favourable atmosphere for employment. The Ministry also honoured 13 municipalities in recognition of their status as child‑labour‑free local authorities. Six industries were also honoured for meeting the labour standards in employment set by the Ministry. They were Navjivan Hospital, Hongsi Shivam Cement, Ambe Steel, Asian Paints Nepal, Maruti Cement and Mainawati Steel Industries.
