KATHMANDU: The eighth annual general meeting (AGM) of Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs' Forum (NYEF) Kathmandu Chapter elected Anubhav Shrestha as its president and selected a new executive committee for the coming term.
Newly elected President Shrestha said he will build a strong and united NYEF Kathmandu based on trust, collaboration, continuous learning and shared goals. He said he intends to expand NYEF beyond a professional networking forum into a common platform offering guidance, collaboration, opportunities and a sense of belonging for young entrepreneurs.
Shrestha credited NYEF with playing a significant role in his personal and professional development and said he will work to make the organisation a leading institution shaping the future of youth entrepreneurship in Nepal. He said entrepreneurship is a foundation for job creation, innovation, social problem solving and long-term economic prosperity.
Commenting on recent challenges in the business sector, Shrestha praised Nepali entrepreneurs for their patience and resilience and urged young entrepreneurs to step forward as agents of change, innovators and leaders. He outlined plans to build a culture of knowledge sharing, mentorship, responsible business leadership and shared success, and to strengthen national and international partnerships.
Member of the House of Representatives Ganesh Parajuli, chief guest at the event, congratulated the new leadership and highlighted the role of young entrepreneurs in economic transformation through innovation, job creation and private sector growth. MP Parajuli said encouraging youth leadership in entrepreneurship and closer collaboration between policymakers and the private sector are necessary to convert Nepal’s demographic dividend into economic gains.
Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Anjan Shrestha, special guest at the programme, said young entrepreneurs have extraordinary potential to shape Nepal’s economic future. He pointed to young people’s creativity, technology-friendly outlook, global perspective and willingness to take risks as assets for economic change, and said FNCCI is committed to deepening cooperation with NYEF on entrepreneurship promotion, innovation, access to finance, mentorship and business networking.
The newly elected executive committee includes Anubhav Shrestha as President; Appa Sherpa as Immediate Past President; Sandeep Sharma as First Vice-President; Saurabh Shrestha as Second Vice-President; and executive members Sayan Prajapati, Santosh Pandey, Ashlesha Karki, Ang Chhechi Sherpa, Surakchya Adhikari, Ichhya Malla, Amritanjali Shakya, Nikhil Agrawal, Shreya Giri, Sharon Adhikari and Priyanshi Jalan.
The committee said it will work to promote youth entrepreneurship, advance innovation, encourage responsible business leadership and create more opportunities for young entrepreneurs across Nepal during its term. Delegates at the general meeting also held discussions on improving entrepreneurship development, start-up promotion, innovation, leadership development and collaboration between the private sector and policymakers.
