KATHMANDU: United Cements organised a free health camp for residents of Dhunibesi Municipality-9 in Dhading district as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.
A seven-member medical team from Megha Hospital, Lalitpur, led by coordinator Shilpa Pokharel, provided consultations with general physician Dr Jamal Ashraf, paediatrician Dr Deepa Khanal and dental surgeon Dr Sangeeta Kumari. A total of 143 people, aged between seven and 85, received health check-ups and medical advice.
Most attendees were local residents, and women outnumbered men. Essential medicines were supplied free to those in need, and United Cements distributed fruit juice and biscuits to all participants. The event was coordinated by Dhanapati Sapkota, head of administration at United Cements, and the company’s general manager, Hari Kumar Upreti, attended as chief guest.
The medical team reported that the majority of patients suffered from back and knee problems and noted that many local residents do not undergo regular health check-ups. Participants called for such camps to be organised regularly to improve access to healthcare in the community.
Local elected representatives, social workers and other community members attended the programme. At the closing, residents thanked United Cements for organising the free camp and for its commitment to community health. General Manager Upreti also expressed appreciation to the local government, school representatives and others who helped host the event.
