KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle said some acts are being amended and repealed on the recommendations of the High-level Economic Reforms Recommendation Commission.
Replying to concerns over a proposal to consider the Bill to amend and repeal certain Nepal Acts related to Finance Bill‑2083 at a House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, he said that on his first day in office he announced that acts obstructing economic reforms would be repealed. “The Bill has been taken forward to materialise the same announcement,” the minister said, adding that Parliament is the forum for enacting new laws and rescinding existing ones as required. He said the Bill was introduced for that purpose and that the government is committed to economic reforms.
Lawmakers Manju Bhusal, Krishnahari Budathoki, Nitima Bhandari Karki, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Madhav Bahadur Thapa, Sushil Khadka, Renuka Kauncha, Bidushi Rana, Narendra Kumar Kerung, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Buddhi Prasad Panta, Sajida Khatun Siddique, Hari Prasad Bhusal, Guru Prasad Baral and Pushpa Raj Kandel took part in the discussions.
Prior to the debate, the finance minister had tabled the proposal seeking consideration of the Bill, which was unanimously endorsed by the meeting.
Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal asked any lawmaker wishing to register amendments to contact the Bill Section of the House of Representatives.
The House of Representatives is scheduled to meet again on July 30.
