CAN Federation, Maharishi College sign MoU to roll out AI and technology skills education
KATHMANDU: Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation) and Maharishi College, affiliated with Far Western University, have signed a five-year strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to roll out artificial intelligence and technology skills education across all seven provinces of Nepal.
The nationwide initiative will extend advanced technology education beyond textbooks and the Kathmandu Valley by linking classroom instruction with practical industry experience to help students become digital innovators.
Under the five-year plan, the partners will run coding bootcamps from basic to advanced levels, host hackathons and creative innovation competitions, and provide startup incubation resources to help students turn technical ideas into commercial enterprises. The agreement also includes capacity-building programmes to update educators on modern technology curricula.
The MoU was signed in Kathmandu by CAN Federation Acting President and One Cover CEO Chiranjibi Adhikari and Maharishi College Principal Ram Raj Acharya. The signing was attended by education and technology representatives, including CAN Federation Vice President Suvash Khadka and Executive Member and Education Committee Co-coordinator Omkar Basnet.
"This partnership is about pushing aside barriers and unleashing the true potential of our youth," said CAN Federation Acting President Adhikari. "We want young Nepalis not just to use AI, but to build it themselves, shape it, and lead the global digital revolution. By taking these bootcamps and start-up programmes to all seven provinces, we are ensuring that every young visionary in Nepal finds their place in national opportunity."
"By combining academic frameworks with practical industry experience, we are creating a direct pathway for students to enter the tech sector," said Maharishi College Principal Acharya. "This is a bold step toward building a skilled and tech-savvy workforce ready to face tomorrow's challenges."
The collaboration seeks to equip young Nepalis with relevant technical skills as rapid technological change continues to alter workforce demands globally.
