Cloudy conditions and moderate rain likely in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini

KATHMANDU: Generally cloudy conditions will prevail across the country today as monsoon winds continue to influence all regions of Nepal, the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) said in its 24-hour forecast.

The MFD noted that the monsoon low-pressure line is currently situated around its average position.

During the day, moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely across most parts of the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as some places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is also expected in parts of Madhesh Province and the Tarai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, and at a few places in the Tarai region of Sudurpashchim Province.

Heavy rainfall is likely at a few locations in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Gandaki. Heavy rainfall may also occur at one or two places in the Tarai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki, the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati, and the hilly region of Lumbini.

Tonight, generally cloudy weather will persist nationwide. Most places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, along with some places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim, are forecast to receive moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is also predicted in parts of Madhesh Province and the Tarai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim, alongside a few places in the Tarai region of Koshi.

Heavy rainfall is expected at a few places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, and at one or two locations in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, the Tarai regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim, and the hilly region of Karnali. The MFD added that very heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two locations in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Gandaki and Lumbini overnight.
