KATHMANDU: The government collected over Rs 93.43 billion in revenue during the first month of fiscal year 2026/27, an increase of roughly 10% or Rs 8.24 billion compared with the same month a year earlier.
Data from the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO) show tax revenue contributed Rs 85.19 billion and non-tax revenue amounted to Rs 7.3 billion. The government also received Rs 240.3 million in foreign grant assistance during the initial period spanning mid-July to mid-August.
For fiscal year 2026/27, the government has set an overall revenue target of Rs 1,642 billion.
On the expenditure front, total spending in the month of Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August) stood at Rs 41.88 billion out of an annual budget allocation of Rs 2,124.34 billion, equivalent to 1.97% of the total allocation.
By the end of Shrawan (August 16), current expenditure stood at Rs 21.40 billion, representing 1.68% of its assigned budget. Capital expenditure reached 0.31% of its total allocation of Rs 431.01 billion. Expenditure under fiscal management amounted to Rs 19.15 billion, or 4.53% of its annual allocation.
