JHAPA: Agricultural products worth more than Rs 24 billion were imported through Kakarbhitta border point in the last fiscal year.
Nand Kishore Singh, head of the Plant Quarantine Office Kakarbhitta, said agricultural products worth Rs 24.2674 billion, including cereals, pulses, fresh vegetables and fruits, entered Nepal from India, China, Australia and Bangladesh in fiscal year 2025/26. He added that the largest share of imported commodities comprised cereals and pulses.
From India, rice worth Rs 242 million and pulses worth Rs 188 million were imported. Singh also reported that 1,996 metric tonnes of gram worth Rs 182 million and 796 metric tonnes of pulses worth Rs 108 million were imported from Australia and India.
The figures underline the volume of cross‑border agricultural trade handled at the eastern entry point during the fiscal year.
